LEHIGH An EASY MARK Yale Rolls Up Score Of Fifty Points and COnld Hsve Made IL Larger NEW YORK. Nov. l0.-The Yale team made their first appearance In this city TINS season today They played the elevcn from Lehlgh University AT the Polo grounds, ana rolled up a score OF 50 10 against the Bethlemites, and they could nave readily increased this by 90 points had they been so inclined. A surprisingly small number of persons visited the groundS-less than thousand. The Yale team made particularly good impress sion. They are as bulky I’m the lire as a big college team should be. but their weight Is not their strong point. That is the activity and all-around usefulness of their strong men. OF course, against the comparatively light Lehigh line the Yale giants could do wonders, but, TAX ing this into consideration, the Yale ruShers were to-day, and Will 81 bsequently be- all agility, to judge from their movements whenever the ball was pat in play Yale was not compelled to have , recourse to her tricky plays, as thu strength Of her line made Lehigh gains impossible. and when she had the ball the Interference Of the line and the fleet ness of her backs gained all the ground necessary. Nov. 1O.-Yale easily defeated Lehigh at the Polo Grounds to-day by the score of so to 0. The grounds were in a very muddy condition. which prevented long runs. Some of Yale’s players were in Trenton wit Messing the game there, and practically not much moro than one-half of the university team played. In the rush line many of the best men were absent, but even SO, Lehigh was able to make little impression by bucking it, hardly gaining yard. Yale frequently broke through, stopping plays, especially punts. Yale hardly showed championship FORM the play being slow, but this seemed due to the poor condition of the ground. In the first half which was thirty-ive minu.es long, Yale scored 80 points on touchdowns by But terworth, and Mills and Hickok failed to kick two goals. In the second half, twenty five minutes long, Yale scored Is points through touchdowns by Butterworth, Mills and Murphy, Hickok kicking three goals. The lineup was:
