BY THE UNIVERSITY OF Penn SYLNANIA TEAM-12 TO o THE PRINCETON MEN ARE. PLAINLY OUTCIASSED The Ball Never out of the Yellow and Black Territory-Second Touch Down Made Five Minutes Before Call of Time-MinncSota Defeats Beloit-Other Games. Trenton, y. j., Nov. II 1.-The Stalwurt sons of old Pennsylvania clipped the claws of the Princeton tiger by Il score of twelve to nothing. 1t is Il glo rious triumph for the red and blue and places Pennsylvania in the very front ranks of football teams. 1t was a ;‘lana battle stubbornly fought but, try rs they did, the tigers at no time had Il chance Of victory. Pennsylvania out played them man for man and never was the quaker goal in danger. No scoring was done i’ll the first half. although the uuakers took the ball within six inches of Princeton’s goal line about the middle of the first half and lost it on four downs through what was probably IN error in .iudg- ment. Throughout this half, as well as in the next, the ball was almost constantly in Princeton’s territory. Never were the tigers nearer than Pennsylvania 25-yard line and then only on kicks which Brooke immediately returned, gaining from ten to twenty yards on every exchange of punts with Cochran. Shortly after the opening of the second half the ball was passed back to Cochran for a kick on princeton’s 2O-yard line but the tiger fun back puntcd the ball into the ranks of his own men and Will liams with lightning agility. tucked the leather under his left arm and dashed down the field, through the IT, gers ranks and dropped it behind the goal post. Brooke placed the ball squarely between the posts and over the bar; scoring six points for Penn sylvania. Pennsylvania second touchdown was made about five minutes before the call of time. The quakcrS pounded through the tackles, pierced the cen ter and had carried the ball to Prince tons ten-yard line. Here it passed to Osgood who, like Il flash wheeled TO the left. shook himself loose from the Princeton end rush and carried the ball over the line. AS in the for mer case the goal was an easy one for Brooke. After this Pennsylvania might be said to have tOyed with the tigers. Although Il great surprise to the null titude and even to football experts generally it was Il clear case of the yanquishcd team being outclassed The tigers, who three hours before. bounded on the gridiron full Of conf dence, now filed sadly off the field many of them so weak and crippled that they had to be borne in the arms of comrades. The big crowd went wild. Huge yellow chrysanthemums and long black streamers faded from sight. In their places hundreds of blue and red ribbons burst into view like magic. Finally the enthusiasm became boundless and like great flood the crowd surged out into the gridiron, and hosting the quaker kick ers upon It’s shoulders, carried them in triumph from the grounds.
