Princeton’s victory over Yale, most unexpected, gives the Orange and Black the title among the so. called Big Three and permits the Tigers to view the season not with out smiles. At the same time, Navy tied that Tiger team and Colgate defeated it. Columbia’s triumph over the Army, was quite the biggest upset of the past week. The soldiers were expected to trample the New Workers. under foot without half trying, but something got into Columbia’s athletes and they did the trampling themselves. Pennsylvania defeat was a bit unexpected, though Pittsburgh was not underestimate at any time. At the same time the Quakers were considered better than they proved to be. PENIS victories over Yale and Chicago have lost much Of their SAVIOR since Illinois and Pittsburgh came along. Is to Is, when Princeton, already whipped by Colgate, 8 to 0, defeats the Ellis, Is to IL? How good is Penn, losing to the Pan theirs, Ia to 0, when Lafayette defeated Pitt, 20 to 9? Colgate lived up to all advance notices in whipping Syracuse, 19 to 6. The Hamiltonians are the first to cross the Syracuse goal line and are undefeated, though tied by Lafayette, z to z. Out on the Pacific coast Wash ington provided the shock for the fans in giving California its first collegiate defeat in almost six years. The Huskies from the Northwest are easily the most powerful contingent beyond the Rockies, defeating Stanford, 13 to 0, and California, z to 0, on successive Saturdays. That 6-to-6 tie with Nebraska is the one black mark on Washington’s record.
