Oct. 20.-Harvard beat Williams today in game replete with in. terest. The final score was 32 to 0. There was crowd of 4000 people present and 1t had several occasions to give’vent to it’s en- thusiasm. The playing on both sides was far better than any game Seen on Soldiers. field this year or any other year. Harvard played better than any enthusiastic sup porter had supposed was possible. The good work by Harvard cans all be laid to the fact that Waters and Arthur Brewer were in the Harvard rush line aud Charlie Brewer and Wr1ghtington behind the line. Waters acted as captain and Kept his team in perfect running order. In addition 10 that Waters played wonderful game. He was everywhere. Williams never gained an inch by his position. Williams started in with rush,. after Brown’s fashion, and it looked as if Har- yard would be scored against, but after gaining twenty five yards without falter, Williams here lost her chance. Never after that was the Harvard goal ln any great danger. On one occasion the ball got to Harvard’s twelve-y yard line, but liar yard had no trouble in holding Williams for four downs. Harvard’s defensive play was superb. Harvard’s only weak point was interference, though this was far bet ter than in any previous game. The plays were largely at both tackles and there they never failed 10 gain. The most wonderful play was Charlie Brewer’s attempt at a goal from the field from dIe forty five yard line. The ball struck the cross bar squarely in the middle. The crowd went wild. Line up: Harvard. Position. Williams. Moulton ............ Left end...... :. Ryan Wheeler. .......... Left tackle.... SURPRISE TO TIGERS, Cornell Boys Make the Princeton Kickers w ork for Victory. NEW YORK, Oct. 20.-The first game of the season in this season between two college football teams was played today on ManhattanfieId and to the great surprise of Princeton, Cor nell made touchdown. while Prince ton could get but two touch-downs from which goals were kicked, leaving the score IL to in favor of Princeton. Before the game was begun the Cornell men were trying to get odds that Princeton would not score more than twenty-fo four points to nothing. and when Cornell got its touchdown the wearers of the red and white nearly yelled themselves hoarse. The game showed very clearly that Cornell is the gamer by the new rules. as they do bet ter in all open game than the heavy men from Princeton. 1t showed, more over, that Princeton is behind her players of last year. The fumbling of the Princetons was more noticeable than that of Cornell, and several times the ball was lost 1t critical point.
