WEST VIRGINIA WON In FAR WEST GAME Unbeaten West Virginia Eleven Won Over Gonzaga 81 to 1S-Pitt Wins Over Stanford While Penn State Loses. Christmas day brought glad tidings to all followers of the West Virginia University football team who had journeyed to the far west to play at San Diego, in the first Of the three east-west games, when it was learned that they had won 81 to IS from Conzaga College. West Virginia scored all her points in the first three quarters Of the game and had hard work stemming the tide of the open attack of the westerners in the last period, However, when the trip with its nee essary physical trials are considered, and the lack Of conditioning by being out of training for more than month the Mountain State team was at least thirty points better than their western rivals. Had the same trip east have been forced upon the Gonzaga team the score would prob ably have been SO to 0 in favor Of the fasteners. However, their slate still remains clean and the almost super human feat Of going through an entire season without meeting reverse is the record of West Virginia and one Of which the whole state can be proud.
