Even if things are on the downgrade at Centre. it will take two or three years for the reputation the school has builded the past few years to die out. And even with Bo and Red and Charlie gone, it’s no sign that Centre won’t continue to pack ‘em in. and to win games. When Guyon, and Flowers, and Har- Ian, and Coach John Heisman left Georgia Tech the cry went up: Watch Ga-Tech take a back seat” Did they? They did notl Coach Alexander. unheralded and unsung, stepped right In and started building for the future. This year Ga-Tech had one of the most formidable teams in the south. The Jackets proved this all season, and Thanksgiving they stamped 1t indelibly in the minds of football fans by hand ing Auburn a 14–6 trimming. That was no insignificant task, for has been able to put on the field in years. Georgia and Alabamn Would Draw If plans really go through Georgia and Alabama will fight their annual battle in Birming- ham next Thanksgiving. The machinery Is already at work to bring this game here. It is un- derstood that the Crimscners and the Red and Hackers drew som ething like six thousand to their game in Cramton Bowl. This, Is not enough. If the affair is arranged for Birmingham for next Thanksgiving to take the place of the Aggie-Alabama bat tie, the chances are that most of the 1S,000 seats Boss Quack is contemplating building, would be taken. The idea is to keep hammering. Birmingham Is really football town. The best gridiron town in the south, with the exception of Atlanta, and better than At lana would be If Atlanta was not college town, supporting to man Georgia Tech. Year in and year out the old Magic City will turn out better crowds than are to be found anywhere else meath DiNie’s sun. And, now with the seating capacity to rely on, efforts should be made to bring Georgia, Centre and possibly Ga-Tech here during the course of a season.
