OREGON DEFEATS | AGG|E ELEvENB | FOLLOWING BALL Showing their traditional fight and following the ball every minute Of the game, the University of Oregon football team Saturday afternoon broke the tie exlisting between them and Oregon Agricultural College for the past two years and won a 10 to vic tory on the Corvallis field. While both of Oregon’s scores, place kick and touchdown, came as the direct results Of breaks in the game, that fact detracts little from the credit due the Eugene lads. Outweighed and battling on slow muddy field, Oregon had easily the better of the argument. All of Oregon’s IS points were scored during the first period. CARRIER, Aggie safety, dropped the first of the Oregon pnnts early in the first quarter and Latham recovered on the Aggies 16-yard line. A forward pass and two line bucks failed to make yard age for Oregon and Chapman dropped back for a kick from the 20-yard line. The ball sailed true between the uprights. A few minutes later, when CARRIER let another Of the Oregon kicks roll close to the goal, CALI son, Oregon center broke through the line and blocked Gill’s at tempted punt, the ball rolling behind the Aggie goal line where Spears, Oregon end, fell ON it. Saturday Washington defeated Stanford IL to s. They will present serious opposition to the oregon aspirations for champion ship honors in the northwest. California continued its steam roller tactics of piling up huge scores when it trimmed Nevada 81 to 13, Saturday, and Coacf Mathews Idaho Vandals held tn, University of Southern California to a 10 to 0 score.
