Colgate was sufficiently impressive az the time, but it has become a more important development since. Just one week before the Maroon’s setback at Ithaca we saw It outplay Princeton by fair margin, only to be beaten by Jack Cleaves’s seventy-nine yard dash after intercepting forward pass. 1t was easy to see that with another week Of pointing the Colgate eleven would be formidable machine. 1t was indeed formidable-but Cor nells class told. Last Saturday Cornell ran rough shod over Columbia. Sc to 0. This was a mans size performance in spite of the weakness of the Columbia line. But it was not that game as much as Colgate’s sweeping triumph over Lehigh which made the Ithacans loom all the greater that evening. Playing bit better foot ball than 1t did against the pupils of Gil Dobie, the Colgate combination overwhelmed Lehigh, 35 to 6. That Lee high team had held Brown TO 6 to /, and judging from what we saw OF the Bears against Yale. the Pennsylvanians must have been pretty strong 70 keep Brown to a single touchdown. Only week previous Bruno had fought q scoreless tie with Syracuse. Has Piled Up ESQ Points. Cornell has won a reputation as a great scoring machine. 1t has piled up $50 points this season. and only Califormia. with it’s 264. can show a better scoring record In all these United states. But it must be admitted that with the exception OF Colgate, tho Ithacans have not encountered any opposition which could give them real worth while argument This may not be due to any unwillingness on the part of Cor nell TO battle with more virile foes, but the fact stands, and It troubles the critic no little in his effort to place Cor ne1l properly in the Eastern array. ST. Bonaventure. Niagara. New Hampshire, Colgate and Columbia-these have named. That card hardly compares with the schedules OF some OF the other first flight elevens. but it could have been a lot weaker. New Hampshire was put in there to give the Ithacans test, but the White Mountain boys fell from the position they occupied In 1921, when they got a decision over the Army, and were easy for the Big Red team. 6S TO Z. That score Is interesting from the fact that New Hampshire the following week held the Cadets to 33 to 0. Dartmouth has been disappointment This season, but there is no telling what the Green viii do against the Carnelian. Dartmouth still smarts under that ter rible 50 to trouncing it suffered against Cornell last year and will so into the Polo Grounds to do or die. No game which Dartmouth already has played may be used as a criterion. Dartmouth has been waiting for Saturday for year. and II will be an inspired and in furiated combination which will fight Dobies men.
