USE SECOND Team ‘‘POtsy” Clark Will Give His Varsity Men a Rest. Large Crowd Going to WASH burn-Kansas Game. Coach “Potsy” Clark, of Kansas has announced that he will not use sin gle varsity man in the Washburn- Kansas game at Lawrence tomorrow afternoon. He will start his second string men, known at Kansas as the BLACK Cats” and will use his third string men as substitutes. This will be welcome news to Wash burn fans. and now the Ichabods are figuring on giving the seconds OF kan sas a hard game. The varsity has been going good the last few days, and most of them are in good conditon for the whirl Saturday. Kansas officials believe that the varsity needs a rest after the hard battles at West Point and at Drake both of which were lost. With the rest this week, the Kansans will be in pretty good shape for the clash al Manhattan, October %, when Coach Bachman will try to convince the Jayhawkers that Aggieville has real football team. Washburn lost the game to Kansas last year, % to Z. The year before it was 0 to 0. and in 1919, Elmer Bearg, then coach at WashburR held Kansas to a 6 to 0 score before bleacher full of people at Topeka. Walter shannon will be in at full back against Washburn. He has not been in print much this year, because he has not been able to convince the professors he has ability to function properly in his grades and in foot ball, too. AT last they seem to be convinced, and he will enter the game for the first time Saturday. An unusually large delegation of Washburn rooters, both from the col e lege and from town. have declared their intention of going to the game. IIiwanis club is going in body. Mem bers will meet at the Chamber OF Commerce, with something like thirty cars and will drive to Lawrence for the contest.
