  WISCONSIN ENTERS RACEFOR WESTERN CONFERENCE TITLE Well Earned Victory Over Illinois Puts Cardinal Clad Team Forward. URBANA. H.. oct. 22.-Wisconsins cardinal-clad warriors established themselves in the race for the western conference football cham pionship today when they defeated Illinois 90 10 0. The defeat was the Illinis second in the championship race and il virtually eliminated them from further consideration. Except for the first period, when Illinois outplayed the Badgers. Wis consin was master of the situation. Illinois came dangerously near TO scoring with forward passes in the first period, but never threatened after that Two OF WiscOnsin’s three touch downs were largely the result OF Illinois misplays. In the second period the Badgers blocked a punt on the 27-yard line and Brumm, tight tackle, grabbed the ball and plunged over for the first touch down. Illinois defense apparently crumpied in the fourth period and the Badgers crashed over for two more touchdowns, one being the result Of a tumble. Elliott made a thrilling 5O-yard run around left end for touchdown. Near the end of the game Woods. who replaced Gibson as quarterback, grabbed an Illinois pass that bounced out of Rollins hand on the 15-yard line and scored the third touchdown. The defeat was the Illinrs second in the cham pionship race, and it virtually elimimated them from further consideraton. Except for the first period, when Illinois outplayed the Badgers, Wis consin was master of the situation.
