STILL HAVE REAL STING Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Show Great Power in Defeat of Vanderbilt. ATLANTA, October is. Georgia Techs crushing defeat of Vanderbilt Saturday in one of the first games of the season in which two “aces” of the southern gridiron faced each other proved the outstanding feature or the weeks play which generally round the more conspicuous eleven engaged against weaker opponents. The 44-to-0 victory of the Yellow Jackets is said here to be the worst defeat suffered by the Commedores since Techs S3-to-0 victory in 1917, vanderbilts poor tackling and costly iumplihs was largely responsible for saturdays result. The Tech eleven, while playing a wonderful game, was nampered by off-side penalties, about the only weakness it has shown in it’s first four games. The Tech machine, built up by Goach Heisman, and now guided by W.. A. Alexander, a star on the team q rev years ago. showed a power on offense and defense against Wander bilt that surpassed even the most ardent hopes of its supporters. Not all the other elevens of the larger institutions found the going as easy as might have been expected, ~” lof TIC T uEtHdH TEAM. Oulweighed FIVE to ten pounds to the man, held Georgia University to a bare 7-to-0 victory, and Birmingham Southern defeated “Ole Miss II to s. Aiabama’s two big elevens and the great team that Coach Moran has built up at Center College continued their victorious marches. Auburn. playing the hard fighting Clemson aggregation Friday, won II to 0, and the University of Alabama on Sat urday put it’s weight and speed into action against Mississippi College for a 57-to-0 victory. Center swept Transylvania aside for a 55-to-0 score. The University of Alabama, Center College and Georgia Tech are the only three big teams that have kept their own goals inviolate this season, and a comparison shows that Center has piled up 241-to-0 in three games. Alabama 210-to-0 in four contests and Tech 209-to-0 in four. The latter is the only one of the three that has so far faced another one of the big southern elevens.

TECH HOPES TO DOWN PITT Golden Tornado All Set to Revenge Two Previous Defeats. Atlanta, Ga. Oct. 20.-Storm warnings were displayed at Pitts burg. Pa. today following reports that the Georgia Tech tornado was gathering momentum in it’s north ward course. The twisted wreckage of four Southern football teams lie behind the Tech so far, including the 44–0 defeat Saturday at Vanderbilt. The Georgians have not been scored on in the. four games. The football atmosphere here is grim. however, with remembrance of two previous invasions of the North. Tech rooters. while much elated over the Vanderbilt victory Saturday, took no comfort from the Syracuse game of Pitt. The muddy field and the fact that both scores were from fumbles makes comparisons dangerous, they said. Then, too, they pointed out that much of Techs troubles in the Pitt game last year came from penal ties-160 yards of ‘em. The Yellow Jackets suffered more than 200 yards in penalties last Saturday. Twenty-Five men comprise the squad that goes North this after noon-two men for every position. The Tech line has been doing yeoman service in every contest this season and is expected to hold it’s own with Coach Warmers Panther forwards. In the back field. Flow ers, Harlan, Barrow and McDonough are a quartet who have harmonized closely in several cam paigns. The men were all in good condition.
