AGGES AGAIN nETEANFn nv Ala UEFEAIEU DI ALA. A. AND M. MACHINE CRUSH ED BY UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA; BRILLIANT GAME ENDS SEASON. AUBURN VS.GA.TECH Vanderbilt Downs Sewanee; Ole Miss. Wins Over Miss. College At Jack son. Birmingham, Ala, Nov. 27.-The University of Alabama triumphed over the Mississippi Aggies here ia one Of the most thrilling games OF the season, the final scor1 being II to 6. The first half was se’-saw affair, neither side being able to score, but Little, who received the kickoff for Mississippi to start the second half, ran go yards through the entire Alabama team, for a touchdown. The Crimson warriors enraged at this violation of their goal, came back with slashing attack that fair ly swept the visitors off their feet. w. Hovater, recovered a tumble on the Aggies’ 20-yard line, and Full back Stevenson, the individual star of the game, almost single handed, plowed his way through the Mississippi line for the first Alabama touchdown. Alabama’s ends broke through repeatedly and the Aggies were forced to resort to the aerial game. Hovater blocked one of Russels punts and Boone recovered for Alabama on the 27-yard line, only to lose the ball again on a tumble. An exchange of punts followed after which Stevenson intercepted forward pass just as the third quarter ended. Stevenson made beautiful 40-yd. pass to Boone that placed the ball within the shadow Of the Aggies’ goal line, where A. & M. took 1T on downs when four Crimson bucks lacked . yard to make the necessary touch down. Bowers attempted TO nunt out from behind his goal lire, but Capt. Rogers of Alabama blocked the kick and fell on the ball for touch down. Boone of Alabama kicked both goals. The Aggies resorted to the aerial game almost exclusively in the last quarter, and completed half a dozen pretty passes for long gains, but failed to threaten Alabama’s goal during the remainder of the game. In the last quarter the visitors made desperate attempts to score by the aerial route, no less than IL for ward passes, many of which netted long gains, being tried. The stars of the Alabama line were ]. Hovater and Boone at ends; Johnston at guard and Sessions at center. Stevenson at full-back played one of the best games ever seen here being easily the individual star of the game. Russell and Clark were the Mississippi offensive stars, while Carpenter and Henley played well in the line. Atlanta, Ca, Nov 27.-After four bitter years of defeat in their annual Thanksgiving Day game, the Auburn Plainsment triumphed over Georgia Techs Yellowjaczkets here today, Ia to 7. 1t was not only sweet revenge for the Alabamiams, but it was inn pressive, for no team except the University Of Pittsburgh had made that many points against Tech during the football career of most of the players on the Heisman machine. The heavy, hard charging, fierce tackling Plainsmen won the game by fighting every minute and by taking advantage of the breaks when they came. Tech, on the other hand, fun bled too frequently and seemed in other ways over anxious, although | the team had gone into the game with heavy odds in its favor. The annual classic started out like a walkover for Tech, for the old “Tornado” was there at the start and the Jackets touchdown was earned in the first six minutes of play. But the greatest crowd of the season saw the Plainsmen rally and fight one of the gamest uphill contests ever seen on any gridiron. Despite the fact that | on play from the scrimmage Tech / gained nearly four times as much ground and that Tech made some thing like Ia first downs to one or two for Auburn, the Plainsmcn were not to be denied, and they always rallied after the first time and prevented the touchdown.
