By Ray Mccarthy And now if the snow flurries will remain i’ll the clouds for another week the Army Navy game Saturday will be sure to add a fitting climax to one of the most brilliant football seasons IN years, season in which spectacular play has reached probably its greatest height. The consistent upscts of each sue ceeding Saturday have left the experts fiat on their broad backs gasping for breath, and if they dare to attempt to arise before Saturday they may re ceive another severe jolt that will put them out of business entirely. For instance, Columbia victory Cornell on Thanksgiving would end all discussion. Although it is not prob able that these things will result, it is by no means unlikely for either Cor nell or Columbia to turn the trick in this year of wild doings. Cornell’s chances of accomplishing such q feat are much better than Columbias, and if the big Red team can down the Red and Blue considerably lessened will be the sting of their past defeats this fall Yale’s adherence to old-style football was largely responsible for defeat, and Northwestern’s forward passing proved It’s undolng, according to reports of Saturdays games. A little mixture in both cases here would seem to be Just the thing needed to make both cham pionship outfits. Brothers have played conspicuous part in the doings Of the gridiron this fall, but it may be that they will be even moro in the limelght next year. Jim Robertson, Dartmouth’s star back, will lead the Green next year, while Harry Robertson, star center of the Syracuse eleven. has a chance of being elected as leader Of the Orange Dartmouth and Syracuse have met frequently in years past, and just why they failed TO get together this year is not definitely known. However. it may be that the two will clash in football next fall, and with brothers as opposing captains Of two of the LEADING. teams, as may be the case, considerable color will be added to the mix-up. One Of the surprises Of SATURDAYS results was the defeat of Washington State College of the Pacific Coast By the Oregon Aggies, 6 to 0. Washing ton State had figured on victory and was planning to entertain an Eastern team as i’ll years past in Il post-season game at Pasadena In a discussion of football coaches

FOR FOOTBALL HONORS How College Teams Stand Over the Country Today. New York, Nov. 24.-If Podunk or Yap’s Crossing claim the eastern foot ball championship this season, they may get it. No one would be entitled to argue them out of 1T, for it seems after the most chaotic season of years that there is no real honest gosh champion. The regal robes and the scepter had been draped on Syracuse last week, but the New Workers allowed Indiana, ninth in the western conference, to maui them Saturday. Harvard’s defeat of Yale made the Crimson the only undefeated major team of the east, but the record of the Cambridge eleven is not impressive enough to carry a title. Colgate, Dartmouth, Pittsburgh and Washington and Jefferson stand high on the list, but each has a defeat that cuts them out of a chance for the throne. Affairs in the west are a little more tangible. Illinois has first call for the honors with a victory over Ohio State, the choice of the early season dope sters- First and second place was thereby established but the ranking of the other conference members is in a hopeless scramble. Centre college is running down a thread of the tangled web that may lead them to a claim on the eastern championship. The Kentuckians beat Indiana IL TO and Indiana beat Syracuse IL to and Syracuse was supposed to be the class of the east. Centre spread a wide grin Saturday when Georgetown beat Washington and Lee, that had been registering opposition to Centres southern cham pionship claims. Surprises were not confined to the Atlantic zone Saturday. Along the Pacific the dope bucket was given a hefty kick when the Oregon Aggies beat Washington State 6 to 0. The real big classic of the season closes the year next Saturday on the Polo grounds when the Army and Navy come together.
