BROWN COACH PICKS YALE ID BEAT HARVARD New York, Nov. 13.-Syracuse is by far the best football eleven this season, according to the coaches of Brown University. Although Head Coach Robinson would not allow a direct statement from him to be printed, he informally discussed the football situation last night and is of the opinion that either Syracuse or Colgate can beat Yale. He also picks Yale to defeat Harvard, but he would not venture to forecase the outcome of the Yale-Princeton fracas next Saturday. According to the Brown coaches, Yale defeated the Brunonians largely on forward passes. The Brown line was too light for the Yale team, they said, and too weak on defensive plays. However, in the opinion of the var ious Brown coaches, Yale has a poor team. Charles Higgins, chief trainer of the Providence team, said that Yale ranks only about fourth or fifth this year, and that Princeton had a good opportunity of beating their an- cient rivals. Yale cannot compare with the Syr- acuse eleven, which Assistant Coach Barry of the Brown staff believes to be the best football team this sea- son. In nine out of eleven positions, the Syracuse men are superior, and though he paid tribute to Callahan, Braden and Kempton, he did not be- lieve they out-ranked the men in the same positions on the New Y York state eleven. Harvard has not got the team this year they anticipated and they should be easy for the Eli Bulldog. In the opinion of the Brunoians, the Yale men should spend more time in perfecting their forward passing. They also noticed that the Yale line pIungers have adopted the lover the top’‘ method of gaining in diving over the .scrimmage line instead of through it.
