No. 7 Indiana went to Lincoln, trailed in the fourth quarter and still left with a 20–17 win. Nick Marsh’s fourth-down touchdown won it, and Marsh finished with 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Josh Hoover only completed 12 of 22, but 263 yards on 12 completions is a lot of big plays. Indiana’s 22nd straight win wasn’t pretty, and Curt Cignetti’s own summary was “we did just enough.” Fair.
Now Nebraska. Thirty-one straight losses to ranked teams. Thirty-one. Anthony Colandrea threw for 262 yards and ran one in, and the Huskers still couldn’t close. Afterward Matt Rhule said he should have called a timeout before Marsh’s touchdown. That might be the most Nebraska sentence possible.
Indiana’s still unbeaten, and that’s what counts. But a team that needs a fourth-down touchdown to beat unranked Nebraska has some stuff to clean up before November.
